Prof Dr. Karim Abbasian, president of University of Bonab participated at the 7th International Congress of the Caucasus Universities Association (KÜNİB). According to the press release issued by the Center of International Scientific Cooperation, the congress was hosted by Istanbul Maltepe University under the theme of "Re-construction of Historic Silk Road and Unlimited Possibilities in the Caucasus" and delegate of 160 universities from 14 countries, Academies of Sciences from 5 countries, Many bureaucrats and press members participated. It was pointed out that many Rectors from Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Moldovia, Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Croatia, Turkish, Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Russia attended the congress. The KUNIB president, Prof. Dr. Ramazan Korkmaz pointed out: "We hope that cooperation between Caucasus universities will be expanded on education and research; teacher and student exchange as part of the Mevlana Protocol, patenting, accreditation."
As a part of the congress, University of Bonab has signed cooperation protocols with Maltepe University, Gaziantep and Igdir University from Turkey, Akaki State University from Georgia, Volodmyr Dahl East National University and Chernihiv National University of technology from Ukraine, University, and Near East University from North Cyprus.
Caucasus University Association(KUNIB), founded in 2009 with 102 members from 13 country with its slogan “A Future Projection.. “ and draw attention as an academic cooperation institution, is going on seeking solutions to regional problems and offering route map globally. The basic aim of Caucasus University Association is to benefit from the common heritage the neighboring countries have in Caucasian geography and to determine a vision that will help to illuminate the future in addition to the present common academic works which have been done in various areas such as language, culture, history, art, economy, and education.
