In a significant move to strengthen its international academic network, a high-level delegation from University of Bonab, led by its President Prof. Dr. Behzad Binesh, conducted a successful visit to two leading universities in Turkey's Black Sea region on November 19-20, 2025.
The tour commenced at the prestigious Karadeniz Technical University, where our delegation engaged in substantive talks with the Rector, Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı. The discussions paved the way for enhanced collaboration, focusing on removing barriers to joint research initiatives and creating new exchange programs for faculty and graduate students. The visit included an extensive tour of the university's state-of-the-art research facilities, notably the Central Laboratory (MERLAB) and the Energy-Efficient Composite Production Laboratories directed by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ertuğrul.
The delegation subsequently traveled to Gümüşhane University, where they were formally received by President Prof. Dr. Oktay Yıldız. In a statement following their meeting, Prof. Dr. Yıldız highlighted the strategic importance of the new alliance, noting, "This partnership with the University of Bonab will significantly elevate our academic profile across Western Asia. The cross-cultural and scientific exposure for our students and staff will substantially enrich our institution's educational and research quality, reinforcing our commitment to global engagement."
The high point of the visit was the formal signing of Memoranda of Understanding with both host institutions. These agreements establish a comprehensive framework for cooperation designed to accelerate internationalization and build academic capacity.
Key collaborative areas outlined in the accords include:
* Implementation of reciprocal faculty and student exchange programs to foster academic and cultural mobility.
* Joint development of educational programs, including co-hosted international conferences, seminars, workshops, and seasonal schools.
* Promotion of shared scientific research, with an emphasis on co-authoring publications and increasing collaborative output.
*Funding & Implementation: The collaborative activities will be financially supported under the Erasmus+ KA171 (Mobility with Partner Countries) grant, secured by Gümüşhane University from the Turkish National Agency. This funding mechanism will facilitate the mobility and exchange outlined in the agreements.
